EUSTORY, the History Network for young Europeans, again offers interesting learning opportunities for award winners of history competitions from the 22 EUSTORY member countries. Three international prize winners´ academies are held in Germany, Switzerland and Bulgaria this autumn. In Berlin the seminar will focus on “Damaged Souls – Youth and Repression in Socialist Systems”. Interviews with eyewitnesses from Poland, Romania and the former GDR will give the young Europeans insights into the lives of people who experienced governmental repression in their own youth. But the academy will also highlight current aspects of repression and manipulation, i.e. the power of media, political populism and challenges that arise from that for democracy and responsible citizens in Europe. In Switzerland the students will work on the topic “Food – more than a way to fight hunger? The culture of alimentation” (end of September), whereas the topic in Bulgaria in October will be: “Between Occident and Orient – Religious diversity in Bulgaria”.
